Oliver County received an estimated eight inches of snow.

Wider weather episode

A strong short-wave trough lifted through the region as a surface low deepened over South Dakota. This led to heavy snow developing over much of south central North Dakota into the James River Valley during the afternoon and evening of February 28. The greatest snow amount reported was 14 inches at Jamestown. The storm continued into March 1. See the March 2023 edition of Storm Data for the continuation of this weather event.
