Event narrative

Severe (D2) drought conditions persisted across far southwestern Wheeler County through the end of February. Across the remainder of the county, extreme (D3) drought conditions persisted through the end of the month. The cooperative observer at Bartlett 1W reported 0.50 inches of precipitation for February. This was 0.16 inches below the normal of 0.66 inches.

Wider weather episode

Drought conditions improved some in February across the area. The greatest improvements occurred over portions of north central and southwestern Nebraska. In these locations, drought severity improved by one category in February. Elsewhere, drought conditions remained un-changed during the month.
