Event narrative

Extreme (D3) drought conditions over the eastern three-quarters of Keya Paha County improved to severe (D2) drought conditions by the end of February. Severe (D2) drought conditions over the western quarter of the county improved to moderate (D1) drought conditions by the end of the month. The cooperative observer at Springview 2NW reported 0.54 inches of precipitation in February.

Wider weather episode

Drought conditions improved some in February across the area. The greatest improvements occurred over portions of north central and southwestern Nebraska. In these locations, drought severity improved by one category in February. Elsewhere, drought conditions remained un-changed during the month.
