Event narrative

A combination of moderate to heavy snow and wind gusting over 40 mph led to the closure of Interstates 25 and 90 for several hours.

Wider weather episode

A low pressure system moved across northern Wyoming and brought heavy snow and strong wind to the northern third of the state that led to numerous transportation issues. In the mountains, the Jackson Hole Ski Resort picked up 25 inches of new snow. Across the much of the Bighorn Basin, reports of 6 to 10 inches was common. Although less snow fell in Johnson County, the snow was accompanied by wind gusts to almost 50 mph that led to the closure of Interstates 25 and 90 for a time.
