Extreme (D3) drought conditions persisted across all of Hayes County through the end of February. The cooperative observer at Hayes Center reported 0.24 inches of precipitation in February. This was 0.29 inches below the normal of 0.53 inches.
Wider weather episode
Drought conditions improved some in February across the area. The greatest improvements occurred over portions of north central and southwestern Nebraska. In these locations, drought severity improved by one category in February. Elsewhere, drought conditions remained un-changed during the month.
