Event narrative

To start March, ongoing drought conditions at the immediate northern border of the Little Rockies against Blaine County and the eastern half of the Little Rockies were in (D2-Severe) conditions while the remainder of the western half remained in (D3-Extreme) drought. On the third week of March, the immediate northern border of the Little Rockies against Blaine County and the eastern half of the Little Rockies improved to (D1-Moderate) drought, while the remainder of the western half improved to (D2-Severe) conditions. These conditions would remain the same through the end of the month.

Wider weather episode

Despite a relatively wet and snowy winter, areas of drought continue to persist in northeast Montana.
