Extreme (D3) drought conditions persisted across most of Deuel County in February. Exceptional (D4) drought conditions improved to extreme (D3) drought conditions over far eastern Deuel County by the end of the month. The cooperative observer at Chappell reported 0.17 inches of precipitation for February.

Wider weather episode

Drought conditions improved some in February across the area. The greatest improvements occurred over portions of north central and southwestern Nebraska. In these locations, drought severity improved by one category in February. Elsewhere, drought conditions remained un-changed during the month.
