An estimated 5 to 9 inches of snow fell over an approximate 12-hour period. North winds gusting near 35 mph also caused blowing and drifting of snow. Schools were closed throughout the county on the 23rd.

A deepening Plains low pressure system moving through Lower Michigan generated widespread moderate to heavy lake enhanced snow across much of west and central Upper Michigan from the afternoon of the 22nd into the 24nd.
