Event narrative

A line of thunderstorms pushed off the coast and over the Laguna Madre and Coastal Waters the afternoon of April 23rd. The Texas Ocean Observing Network (TCOON) site at Realitos Peninsula (RLIT2) began gusting above 34 knots at 1:18PM CDT and continued until 2:00PM CDT and recorded a peak gust of 42 knots at 1:24PM CDT. Additionally, the same line of thunderstorms brought a wind gust of 48 knots to the NOAA's National Ocean Service (NOS) site at Port Isabel (PCGT2) at 1:42PM CDT.

A squall line raced through the Lower Texas Coastal Waters the afternoon of April 23rd. Several of the Texas Coastal Ocean Observing Network (TCOON) sites along with Buoy42020 reported gusts over 34 knots as the line moved through.
