Quarter sized hail was observed in West Milford.

A shortwave, imbedded in a broad upper level trough over the eastern half of the CONUS, approached from the west. At the surface, a warm frontal boundary lingered over the area until a frontal wave pushed across the region in the evening and overnight period. A slow moving line of severe thunderstorms in association with a cold front moved through northeast NJ, producing large hail.
