Event narrative

Vehicles were getting stuck and being abandoned, primarily in Daybreak, creating clearance issues for snowplows. City staff of South Jordan reported having dug out more than 50 vehicles. UTA TRAX delays were up to an hour on all lines, in both directions, system wide due to snow. A snowfall accumulation of 21.0 inches was recorded at West Jordan. Other snowfall observations include 20.5 inches at Midvale, 18.8 inches at Fort Union, 17.3 inches at Olympus Cove, and 16.9 inches with 0.65 inches of snow water equivalent at Salt Lake City International Airport.

Wider weather episode

This snow event brought more than a foot of snow to many northern Utah valleys, with greater accumulations in the mountains. Numerous accidents were reported.
