The Texas Coastal Ocean Observing Network (TCOON) site at Rincon del San Jose (RSJT2) reported wind gusts above 34 knots associated with a line of storms starting at 12:54AM CDT and lasting until 1:18AM CDT. The highest gust was measured at 43 knots at 1:00AM CDT.

Wider weather episode

A strong cold front barreled through Texas the afternoon of April 28th and spawned a line of showers and thunderstorms. This line of showers and thunderstorms stormed through the Lower Texas Coastal Waters with the highest reported wind gust at Realitos Peninsula with a recorded wind gust of 52 knots, or 60 mph. Most other sites recorded wind gusts between 40 to 50 knots.
