Buoy 42020 of the National Data Buoy Center (NDBC) reported wind gusts above 34 knots associated with a line of thunderstorms starting at 11:10PM CDT and lasting until 11:40PM CDT. The highest gust was 43 knots recorded at 11:20PM CDT.

Wider weather episode

A strong cold front barreled through Texas the afternoon of April 28th and spawned a line of showers and thunderstorms. This line of showers and thunderstorms stormed through the Lower Texas Coastal Waters with the highest reported wind gust at Realitos Peninsula with a recorded wind gust of 52 knots, or 60 mph. Most other sites recorded wind gusts between 40 to 50 knots.
