Event narrative
Snowfall totals of 7 to 13 inches were common across the northern half of the county with higher reports through the snowbelt southwest of Hurley. A high report of 22.8 inches was received near Gile.
Wider weather episode
Low pressure moved to the south and east of the region on the 16th and into the 17th leading to snowfall across the Northland. The heaviest amounts were near Lake Superior where 3 to 10 inches were common with higher amounts to around 14 inches along parts of the Bayfield Peninsula with lake and terrain enhancement. Snowfall was heavy and wet for this event and, when combined with the well above normal snowfall received already this season, a section of the roof at a school in Solon Springs began to sag and led to students not returning to school following spring break for an additional week.
