A crossing shortwave trough and deepening surface low spread precipitation across the area on March 10th. Precipitation started mainly as rain, but then transitioned to snow during the night of the 10th and the morning of the 11th as the low crossed and cold advection set in. Some accumulation was noted in the higher elevations of West Virginia.
