Winter Weather — Forest, Pennsylvania
2023-03-13 to 2023-03-14 · Forest, Pennsylvania
Event narrative
An observer near Tionesta recorded a total of 4.7 inches of snow, while Marienville got 4.6 inches. Other 3 to 4 inch reports were also received.
Wider weather episode
Low pressure tracked across the region on the 13th. Antecedent moisture and synoptic lift
created some convective snow showers with brief low visibility during the daytime hours, but a warm ground kept accumulations in check initially. Overnight, continued shortwave enhancement maintained snow over much of the region, and the cooling temperatures and ground surface allowed for some mainly minor accumulations. A secondary shortwave trough continued some mainly light snow on the 14th before snow ended during the evening.
