Event narrative

Public videos and pictures confirmed a landspout tornado developed west-northwest of Flora and moved to the east-southeast over fields. One video showed the landspout moving through powerlines. No damage occurred.

Wider weather episode

Isolated thunderstorms across far northern central Indiana included one rotating supercell whose persistent nature contributed to a landspout tornado spawning. The tornado was displaced to the south of the cell's mesocyclone, which is atypical for supercell tornadoes.
