Severe to extreme drought conditions from October 2022 continued through April 2023. A very small area of exceptional drought between Clayton and Sedan persisted through April.

Wider weather episode

There was little change in overall drought conditions across New Mexico during April 2023. Only small expansions of extreme drought was observed in extreme eastern Quay County.
