Severe drought conditions from October 2022 persisted in the eastern section of the county through April 2023. Extreme drought was introduced to the far eastern fringe of the county along the TX border.

Wider weather episode

There was little change in overall drought conditions across New Mexico during April 2023. Only small expansions of extreme drought was observed in extreme eastern Quay County.
