Event narrative

Increased snowmelt along the Colorado River led to the closure of Hanging Lake Trail near Glenwood Springs. Water flowed directly down parts of the trail, forcing the closure for approximately a week or so.

Wider weather episode

Accelerated snowmelt from a near-record snowpack due to above normal temperatures and precipitation produced high and fast flow on drainages in Delta and Garfield counties. As a result, flooding compromised various low-lying recreational trails.
