After a dry January and February, below normal rainfall continued over inland Palm Beach County in March. These prolonged dry conditions led to the designation of severe drought (D2) by the U.S. Drought Monitor.

Wider weather episode

Prolonged periods of dry weather across much of South Florida during the winter months led to the development of severe to extreme drought conditions during the month of March.
