Event narrative

Winds picked up the morning of the 25th as the front approached from the southwest. Blizzard conditions developed as the snow moved into the area. Visibility improved during the early morning hours of the 26th as winds diminished. Noatak had wind gusts as high as 54 mph during the event.

Wider weather episode

A front associated with a low moving north through the Bering Sea brought blizzard conditions to portions of western Alaska.
