Blizzard conditions developed in Kotzebue late in the morning of the 1st as the surface low moved through the Bering Strait. Winds died down in the evening as the low moved away resulting in improved visibility. Winds in Kotzebue gusted as high as 44 mph during the event.

Wider weather episode

A 990 mb low moved north through the Bering Strait, bringing blizzard conditions to Kotzebue.
