Event narrative

The Clark Fork River above Missoula reached minor flood stage of 7.5 feet by 1100MST on May 3rd. The river remained above minor flood stage through 1900MST on May 11th. The river crested at 9.5 feet around 0400MST on May 7th. This did cause sandbagging efforts in the frequently flooded area of Tower and Kehrwald streets in the Orchard Homes neighborhood of Missoula.

Wider weather episode

Snowmelt and rainfall created a steady rise for the Clark Fork River above Missoula. River levels exceeded minor flood stage, and remained there over the course of a week.
