There was a tweet about a cold air funnel seen just south of the Ojito Wildnerness on May 19, 2023. The funnel was said to have lasted 5 to 10 minutes.

Wider weather episode

Strong to severe storms developed over the high plains of east-central and southeastern NM during the afternoon of May 19, 2023. One of these storms passed over the Lake Arthur area south of Roswell in south-central Chaves County. This storm produced golf ball size hail and a peak thunderstorm wind gust of 62 mph. There were no reports of damage.
