Event narrative

A widespread estimated quarter inch of ice accumulation from freezing rain occurred across much of Delta County in the early morning of the 5th. The Garden Corners observer reported a frozen anemometer. Utility companies reported widespread power outages impacting several hundred customers with downed trees and power lines.

Wider weather episode

A warm front lifting north from the Central Plains and Lower Great Lakes brought showers and thunderstorms across the area which turned to widespread freezing rain late from the 4th into the early morning of the 5th across west and central Upper Michigan.
