Event narrative

Flooding along the Michigamme River including secondary roads and property constituted much of the flood impacts in April for Dickinson County. County Road 577 in Vulcan was also closed from the 15th into the 17th due to high water. Governor Whitmer declared a state of emergency for Dickinson County on the 21st to open up state funds to assist in flood recovery efforts.

Wider weather episode

Rapid melting of much above normal snowpack caused widespread, and at times, extensive flooding over portions of west and central Upper Michigan from the 12th into the 25th. Extensive impacts from the flooding caused Governor Whitmer to declare a state of emergency declaration for eight counties in west and central Upper Michigan on the 21st.
