Multiple snotels measured snow reaching winter storm warning criteria, including Lemhi Ridge, Darkhorse Lake, and Slagamelt Lakes. The highest accumulation was at the Darkhorse Lake Snotel, which estimated 9 inches new snow in 24 hours.

Wider weather episode

The region was in the ascent side of an approaching trough, which in combination with a developing surface low, resulted in widespread snow and heavy snow across much of the region.
