Drought — Glades, Florida
2023-04-01 to 2023-04-30 · Glades, Florida
Event narrative
Lack of significant rainfall over the previous 3 months led to the continuation of severe drought (D2) conditions over Glades County during the first half of April. Less than 3 inches of rain was measured in many areas from January 1st through March 31st. This was approximately 25% of the normal value for that time period. Increasing rainfall during the second and third weeks of April led to conditions improving to moderate (D1) drought over the southeastern part of Glades County by April 18th. A total of 4-6 of rain fell throughout the month.
Wider weather episode
Prolonged dry conditions over SW Florida led to continued severe (D2) to extreme drought (D3) conditions over a majority of Collier, Hendry, and Glades counties in April 2023.
