AWOS station KGAO Galliano reported a wind gust of 61 mph or 53 knots.

As a cold front approached the local area from the west, the local environment became primed for thunderstorms to develop with warmth and instability increasing. Thunderstorms developed along and ahead of this boundary. A few of these storm cells turned severe as they moved across southeast Louisiana, producing severe winds and hail.
