Mesonet station LOPL1 24 south of Grand Isle measured a peak wind gust of 47 kts or 54 mph.

Wider weather episode

As a cold front approached the local area from the west, the local environment became primed for thunderstorms to develop with warmth and instability increasing. Thunderstorms developed along and ahead of this boundary. Several portions of the line of storms produced severe winds across the local coastal waters.
