A wind gust of 44 knots was measured at the new Sombrero Key Light beacon.

Wider weather episode

Two rounds of showers and thunderstorms containing localized gale-force wind gusts occurred in the coastal waters near the Upper Florida Keys. A stationary front was located in the Straits of Florida, with lower level tropospheric ridging located well to the north. The showers and thunderstorms impacted the coastal waters during the early morning hours of April 11th, then redeveloped later in the evening.
