In Stafford, CT near the Monson, MA border, quarter size hail was reported, per amateur radio.
Wider weather episode
A low pressure system, stacked vertically from the surface through the upper levels, was located over the Gulf of Maine and the Canadian Maritimes. An upper level disturbance rotating around this low moved southeastward from Quebec to New England, triggering scattered afternoon thunderstorms in southern New England, a few of which were strong to severe.
