Wider weather episode
A deep upper low over the Great Lakes and Ohio Valley moved toward the east coast along with a strong frontal boundary. A strong upper NW-SE oriented jet streak provided upper level divergence over the area, while 850mb flow increased out of the SW. Storms initiated along the pre-frontal surface trough and moved quickly eastward. Deep layer shear was strong and while there was a cap for the majority of the afternoon and early evening, it quickly broke as the pre frontal trough approached.
