A warm front lifting northward into central Illinois served as the focusing mechanism for clusters of strong to severe thunderstorms during the early morning of June 29th. Many of the storms produced hail larger than quarters...with one cell in Douglas County dropping hailstones as large as 3.25 inches in diameter just north of Tuscola.
