Several reports were received of hail northwest of Silverton along State Highway 207 ranging in size from half dollar to ping pong balls.

Wider weather episode

Despite a lack of large scale lift on the afternoon of the ninth, enhanced low level convergence along the caprock escarpment allowed for isolated thunderstorms to develop around Briscoe County. Ample instability in place allowed one of these storms to become severe producing large hail northwest of Silverton (Briscoe County).
