Regular rounds of thunderstorms through the month of June improved the last remaining area of severe drought.

Drought conditions improved across eastern NM as the wet pattern continued during the first half of June. Severe drought conditions improved across a wide portion of the eastern plains of NM along the Texas border thanks to regular rounds of thunderstorms during this period of June. There remained a section of severe drought isolated to the southern and southeastern tiers of Chaves County.
