A personal weather station recorded a wind gust of 70 mph.

A low pressure system across far southwestern South Dakota on the early evening of June 23rd shifted northeast through the night, and reached far northeastern South Dakota by 10am on the 24th. Thunderstorms developed in the vicinity of this system as well as along a stationary front, and quickly became strong to severe. While initially discrete, cells eventually merged into a squall line. As a result, both large hail and damaging wind gusts locally in excess of 80 mph resulted across central South Dakota.
