Quarter-sized hail fell 1 mile west-northwest of Maeser in Uintah County.

The wider storm

An upper level trough tracked across the Northern Rockies, dragging its base across the Western Slope. This resulted in increased instability and moisture which fueled scattered showers and thunderstorms. Convection was high-based given the abundance of dry air at the lower levels. Even so, a stronger storm in northeast Utah produced quarter-sized hail near Maeser.
