Wider weather episode
Increased southwest winds, especially Monday evening through Tuesday night, brought the potential for possible travel disruptions, tree and fence damage, as well as local power outages. Mountain snow showers increased intensity during the evening above 7000 feet dumping heavy wet snow over mountain communities which brought heightened snow load concerns for those areas. With the attendant stronger AR bringing relatively higher snow levels and more heavy rain to an already primed heavy snowpack, flood concerns further increased for larger streams and creeks, as well as for mainstream rivers. Temperatures for the first March AR supported storm system remained mostly below seasonal averages, and contributed to limited flooding issues. Temperatures for the subsequent two storm systems remained mostly near to slightly above average in response to the warmer tap of sub-tropical moisture. Therefore, flooding issues increased for these two follow up AR driven storm systems.
