Event narrative

A waterspout was observed between Summerland and Cudjoe Keys. The waterspout moved toward the west, and the condensation cloud extended between one-fourth and one-third of the way down to the water surface.

Wider weather episode

Despite a trough axis moving east of south Florida, ample moisture remained for convective cloud line development over the Lower Florida Keys. A few waterspouts were observed on the Gulf of Mexico nearshore waters.
