A waterspout was observed approximately 5 miles to the south of Long Key.

Wider weather episode

Isolated but strong thunderstorms developed near Long Key, producing a waterspout and storm-force wind gusts. A negatively-tilted upper trough was positioned over the southeastern United States with a surface low moving northeast in the Atlantic.
