What the National Weather Service wrote

Thunderstorm winds broke a flag pole, and downed large limbs and three trees.

The wider storm

A region of low pressure pushed a strong cold front eastward and lifted a warm front northward through the Mid Atlantic during May 16. More than sufficient instability and shear in the Virginia Southside resulted in a few rounds of discrete thunderstorms that organized into a quasi-linear structure, which resulted in areas of thunderstorm wind damage and hail.

Began near Lots Gap (36.9100, -80.9700).
