Event narrative

Numerous trees and power lines were blown down in multiple locations around the area of Boonville. At least one tree was blown down onto a home and another blown down on top of a car. One of the fallen trees resulted in an injury.

Wider weather episode

A region of low pressure pushed a strong cold front eastward and lifted a warm front northward through the Mid Atlantic during May 16. More than sufficient instability and shear in North Carolina resulted in a few rounds of discrete thunderstorms that organized into a quasi-linear structure, which resulted in areas of thunderstorm wind damage and hail.
