Event narrative
A photo was received showing hail piles taken after sunrise. The largest stones were nickel-sized and were most likely larger when they fell some 4-5 hours earlier.
Wider weather episode
A few weak thunderstorms developed during the evening of the 8th due to daytime heating. Most of the storms remained well below severe limits, but one storm did produce nickel-sized hail in Carlton County during the early morning hours. The hail was not discovered until the next morning and was likely larger when it fell.
