Event narrative
Tree and roof damage was reported throughout the Frankston area. The roof of a restaurant was also damaged including loss of shingles, partial decking removal and collapse of portions of the awning. One tree fell onto a manufactured house, killing two adults in the home. A post event assessment determined 70-90 mph winds caused the damage.
Wider weather episode
A lingering upper trough provided several days of thunderstorm activity across the region, with a dryline providing focus for development each day from Thursday May 4 through Monday May 8. Several of these storms were severe with damaging winds and large hail.
