Daytime highs ranged between 105 and 110 degrees each day between July 15 and July 17.
Wider weather episode
A large area of upper high pressure build westward over the Desert Southwest region on July 13 and 14 and became centered over northern Arizona by July 15 resulting in near record heat taking place across the area. The high remained in place maintaining the near record heat through July 17 where an excessive Heat Warning was in effect for all of the area except for the higher elevations of the Sierra Nevada, and a Heat Advisory was in effect for elevations below 7000 feet in the Sierra Nevada.
