A thunderstorm produced ping pong ball size hail on Hwy 83 near Las Colonias. Some vehicles were dented.
Wider weather episode
An upper level shortwave trough provided lift over the higher terrain in Mexico generating thunderstorms which moved into a warm, moist airmass in South Central Texas. Some of these storms produced large hail.
