Event narrative
Large breaking waves of 8 to 12 feet impacted south facing shores of the islands due to a large and powerful south swell. Strong currents and large waves made swimming and other marine activities dangerous. A commercial sailing catamaran encountered large surf while traversing waters near Waikiki and several people sustained injuries as a result.
