Daytime highs ranged between 98 and 103 degrees on July 21 and between 100 and 105 degrees on July 22 and 23.

Wider weather episode

A large area of upper high pressure strengthened over the Desert Southwest region on July 21 and brought a period of dangerous heat to much of the area between July 21 and July 23. The ridge weakened by July 24 which allowed for a slight cooling trend to take place by July 25. Although temperatures remained above daily climatological normals for several days afterwards, temperatures remained below dangerous heat levels.
